Bonett strengthens its position, the company built the third large-capacity L-CNG station in Slovakia

Slovakia -  27.10.2023  The third large-capacity LCNG station started its operation at the Brodské border rest area. This new station will offer drivers the opportunity to refuel with liquefied natural gas LNG, as well as compressed CNG. Its operator is the company Slovenský plynárenský priemysel, a.s. (SPP), the supplier of the complete infrastructure is Bonett.

The large-capacity station in Brodské follows the recently opened stations in Trnava and Prešov. The filling station will serve as another alternative to trucks as well as bus and passenger transport. It is conveniently located directly at the Brodské border rest stop and is accessible from both directions, from Bratislava and Brno.

All three LCNG stations opened during this year. In Trnava, the opening ceremony was held in February with the participation of Minister Karel Hirman, while the filling station in Prešov officially started operations at the end of April. From a technological point of view, all three stations are identical, and their infrastructure was supplied by the Bonett Group.

"We have international experience in supplying the most advanced technologies, and I am very proud that we can now bring our know-how also to Slovakia. Natural gas is significantly more environmentally friendly than gasoline or diesel, while providing similar operational and performance parameters. Moreover, if it is produced from biomethane, it is fully renewable. We see it as the future of freight transport for the next 10 years," says Václav Holovčák, Board Member of the Bonett Group.

Bonett is the largest 100% Czech network of gas filling stations and the largest seller of bioCNG in the Czech Republic. Since 2010, it has also been operating in Slovakia, and in the following years it moved towards international expansion. For example, it won a European tender and supplied technology to the Warsaw Transport Company for the largest station in Poland, which currently fills 160 buses a day. The Group is building a network of its own bioCNG refuelling stations and supplying infrastructure for other companies and is developing modern efficient technologies itself at its innovation centre in Klecany.

Natural gas propulsion produces 95 percent fewer particulate emissions and 30 percent fewer CO2 emissions compared to diesel engines. Its operation is also 30 percent quieter. In addition to the non-negligible environmental aspect, this alternative brings other benefits, such as a reduction in road tax for vehicles with this type of fuel.

The network of three LCNG refuelling stations was established as part of the fuelCNG project, which aims to create a pilot infrastructure of three LNG refuelling stations located along the main corridors of the TEN-T network in Slovakia. The project is supported by the European Commission and co-financed by the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF).

"The refuelling station is unique in its concept as it enables autonomous operation without connection to the power grid. In addition to LNG fuel for all categories of trucks, it also offers CNG. Using a high-pressure LNG pump and subsequent heating of the LNG in vaporizers, CNG is produced, which can then be filled into cars, buses, and trucks. We supply only the most modern sustainable technologies for the Slovak market," says Martin Andrašovský, Managing Director of Bonett Slovakia.

The Bonett Group is also building its own network of CNG stations in Slovakia and has extensive experience in the construction of efficient hydrogen infrastructure.

The LCNG station in Brodské is self-service, open 24 hours a day, and payment is possible by credit card, as well as a card from SPP CNG. For filling NGV1 nozzle can be used.
